Dr. Alicia-Maria Fernandez, DO specializes in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Fernandez received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed residencies in combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. During her educational process, she earned numerous academic honors and awards. As a consequence of her training, she is interested in a comprehensive clinical practice consisting of pediatrics through adults.
Dr. Fernandez is especially interested in preventive medicine, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemias, nutrition and cardiovascular disease in women.
“In particular, I have a strong passion for the current epidemic of obesity, in both adults and children,” says Dr. Fernandez. “It is my ardent goal to establish an adult and pediatric obesity clinic that will use a multi-disciplinary approach to address this critical health problem.”
Dr. Fernandez is also bi-lingual. As a native Spanish-speaker, she will be able to communicate directly with her Spanish-speaking patients, without the worry of “losing something in the translation.”
