Primary care physicians (PCPs) are often an adult patient’s first stop when visiting the hospital for treatment of an ailment. In addition, they provide continuing care for a variety of medical conditions.
There are three general types of adult care PCPs at Ripon Medical Center:
General internist – specializes in internal medicine and often certified in another subspecialty.
Family practitioner – qualified to care for all family members (often referred to as a Family Medicine physician).
Ripon Medical Center’s primary care physicians are an asset to any patient, as they have the ability to:
- Diagnose, treat and manage both minor and chronic illnesses and injuries
- Prevent and detect health problems through regular screenings and wellness education
- Refer patients to specialists and coordinate care with the appropriate services
Many patients choose to see their primary care physician regularly, due to a variety of advantages. PCPs know and understand your family and medical history, lifestyle and habits and also treat you as an individual patient with unique needs. They also may act as your expert guide through the medical system and develop a personalized health program.
